Yin and Yang describe the two facets of existence. Most of modern western Yoga are dynamic designed to work only half of our body, the muscular half, the “Yang” tissue. Holding every position for several minutes we both work on our body and learn to find stillness in our mind. Harmony and health are created when conditions arise where the contrasting aspects are in balance. A Yin yoga class usually consists of a series of long-held, floor poses that mainly work the lower part of the body - the hips, pelvis, inner thighs, lower spine. These areas are especially rich in connective tissues. The poses are held for up to five minutes, sometimes longer.
